Nader Abassi, égyptien, musulman, naturalisé Suisse, est avant tout un citoyen du monde. Et un amoureux de la musique classique, « comme un occidental pourrait tomber amoureux de la musique chinoise ». Il préfère Mozart ou Tchaïkovski aux musiques traditionnelles arabe. Après le conservatoire au Caire, il débute une carrière fulgurante en Suisse. D'abord bassoniste à l'opéra de Genève, puis chanteur, avant de se découvrir un talent pour la composition qui l'amènera à devenir chef d'orchestre.

يواصل اوركسترا القاهرة السيمفونى نشاطه الفنى خلال موسمه الـ 55 حيث يقام حفل بقيادة المايسترو نادر عباسى ومشاركة سوليست التشيللو ايمن الحنبولى وذلك فى الثامنة مساء السبت 12 ابريل على المسرح الكبير
ويتضمن البرنامج القصيد السيمفونى الشهيرة شهرزاد للمؤلف الروسى العالمى ريمسكى كورساكوف والتى استلهمت من أساطير رواية الف ليلة وليلة وكتبت عام 1888 وتقسم الى ٤ حكايات تجسدها الموسيقى هى البحر وسفينة السندباد ، الأمير الكالندارى ، الأمير الشاب والأميرة الشابة والإحتفالات في بغداد وتعد شهرزاد احد آخر مؤلفات كورساكوف، حيث جمع فيها بين تقاليد الموسيقى الروسية الشعبية الأصيلة وروح الحكايات الشرقية الساحرة.

Nader Abbassi is well aware of what the public thinks of him.
"I know, I know," he laughs, "they think I just stand up there waving my hands like this and like that, and that if I stopped it wouldn't make a difference!"
He is right about the hand-waving part -- it is, in essence, his professional trademark. Once his hands fall still, however, so does everything else.
Abbassi is a maestro -- principal conductor and artistic director of the Cairo Opera Orchestra. His dancing hands are literally what bring the Cairo Opera House auditorium to life.
